Rajan Ratanasabai- a good friend of ART 103
I still remember the place I met this guy, in B’lore during a Inter Area cricket tournament ,at that time he was a prospective, a wild bachelor standing out having his beer and watching the game as we Area 1 was sweating out in the middle of the cricket ground.Till a mishap happened and Arun of MRT 14 had to be rushed to the hospital when he fell on his head while fielding.Rajan along with the tablers from Bangalore took him to the hospital and he spent the night with him in the hospital and the next day his report of the condition was very Funny.
Cool, Jovial and a instant attraction to any one who has had the opportunity to have met him.
I kept meeting him regularly in Round table events and got to know him very close after his very first year in tabling. There was no hiding the fact that fellowship got us as close as we were in the fastest possible time.
He was a instant friend of ART 103 from then on and the number of tablers he knew was quite amazing as one day while we were sitting at home and having a beer he asked me “How many Tablers names do you know in MRT 14?”,I told him 3-4 names which came to my mind and he in turn named atleast 7-8 from ART 103.I was quite taken aback as I was already in my 4rd year in tabling and he was probably in his 2nd!!A serious tabler who also enjoyed his fellowship while getting to know people.
He invited me for one of the Madurai table AGM’s and I convinced John George and ex tabler Mathews Cherian to go and from the time we reached Madurai ,the fantastic time we all had together during the Agm and immediately after the AGM till 6 AM in the morning will be remembered. It was all fun and fellowship which I thought even kids would have enjoyed this fun filled conversation. Finally without having a clue to what the time was, Rajan opened the curtain and we all saw sunrise.Thank you Rajan.
Rekha and me will miss you in Tabling and also your friendship.
I always love using the quote”In three words I can explain what life is all about ”It goes On….”,whenever a tabler retires from tabling at 40 years. But with tears in my eyes I have to tell myself this to keep moving but actually cant still get over it. For sure Kutti Rajan you will be remembered for all the good things you have done.
Good Bye,Forever,But I will always raise a toast to you for being fantastic tabler and friend.I just have to drive on.
Prashanth, ART 103
